The Test of English as a Foreign Language, or TOEFL, is an important part of getting into a college in the United States. This test is used to gauge your ability to speak, write, read, and understand English in an academic environment. Even if you are fluent in English, this is a challenging exam that requires a lot of preparation. Here, we will go over some ways you can best prepare for your TOEFL test.

Give yourself enough time

It isn’t possible to cram for this exam. If you want to do well on your TOEFL test, you will have to invest a lot of time in improving your English skills. You will need to give yourself at least a few weeks to practice your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in English. As these skills generally take years to develop, you won’t be able to master all of them overnight. Figure out a study schedule that fits into your routine and gives you plenty of time to improve your English.

Practice, practice, practice

The best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in it. Practice your English with your friends and family by speaking it with them every day. Read the news in English, and listen to English radio or watch English television to practice your listening skills. To practice your writing skills, write emails in English. Do not let a day go by where you do not practice at least two of these English skills.
